Now that the election is over, we are taking a pause to renew our “Why” and recommit to the incredible 9:30 Call community that continues to gather four days a week to offer support and opportunities to learn as well as creating a space for solving problems and sharing accurate information.
No matter who your candidates were or how they fared, we believe there is common ground in the Why of providing a strong early childhood system for all Massachusetts children and families and for the early childhood professionals who serve them.
Massachusetts has been and remains a leader in education, and we are excited about recommitting to excellence and equity in early childhood. We stand on the progress that has been made, and we look to the future. We carry the lessons learned during the pandemic — among them the value of federally funded, program-stabilizing Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) grants — and we use these lessons in the present: in Massachusetts, after federal funding ran out, the state used its own funds to keep the C3 grants going. We honor lived experience, and we believe that people who work with children and families should work in partnership with elected and appointed officials to develop policy solutions.
Why make this investment? Because this is a state that strives to do the best for children. So as we acknowledge our progress and reflect on our perseverance, we are also moving forward. We know that we face uncertainty. But we also know that our commitment to children is unwavering and that there is important work to be done.
